You should be trained to at least level 1 if you come into contact with children during your place of work. If you work with children, generally you should be trained to level 2 and if you are the Designated Person or Child Protection Officer, you should be trained to level 3. To be sure, check with your manager or managing body for further guidelines.
There are many organisations providing child protection training including Graffham Consulting Ltd and the NSPCC. When choosing a course to attend, check to see that the contents of the course level follow the guidelines of the 'Local Safeguarding Children Board. There are specific requirements for each level. If you are unsure, check with your local Safeguarding Children Board. Try googling this for your county.
